In 2017 we will officially be offering housing for dairy animals as an available service. I realize that some of you already have animals housed at our farm. Because of the investment into our facilities and the amount of personal time we spend taking the best care of the animals on our farm; We will offer different packages at different price points. Prior to finishing our renovations, we will be billing $3 per day for any animal housed on our farm with the exception of calves on milk which will be $8 per day. As our renovation completes the prices will go up according to the housing program (see below). Clients will get a timely notice as our facilities change and will be allotted time to decide what program they would like to continue with.
Individual Box Stall Housing: $20 per day
These animals will be housed in one of the three box stalls that have a 8’ x 12’ bedded area and a 6’ x 12’ eating, drinking and milking area. They will be bedded with shavings and the stalls will be cleaned daily. They will get hoof care and pasture time as needed. We can feed these cows whatever feed is preferred however the cost of feed above TMR is not included.
Group Box Stall Housing: $15 per day
These animals will be housed in the 50’ x 40’ pen at the north end of that barn. 50’ x 30’ of that pen is bedded with composted wood shavings and tilled daily. They have continuous access to pasture (when the weather is fit). You can expect 6-15 animals to share this space.
Ramona Rd Tie Stall: $8
These cows will get a few hours on pasture every week. The stalls will have a new top of the line mattress. Cows in this barn get watched very closely.
We will be housing all of our top cows in the barn on Ramona Rd. Each animal will get a nametag and pedigree listed. We will be marketing our cattle out of this barn and any animal in this barn will get represented as well via Facebook, herd visits, etc.
At lower price points, clients will also be able to house animals in the free stall barn on Ramona Rd or in the tie stall barn on Krall Rd. The tiestall barn at Krall Rd will be $3 per day. These cows will be in the stall for most of their lactation. The stalls have newer mattresses (3 years old). Cows in the free stall barn will be $2 per day.
Dry cows and heifers can be housed at $3 per day and lastly calves on milk will be housed at $8 per day for approximately 60 days.
Animals that are owned with Klinedell will be charged according to the percent ownership I.E. if there are two equal partners, the partner will be charged for half the amount, if there are three equal partners, 33% will be deducted from the total bill, and 33% be billed to each partner.
Each animal entering our herd will need a current health chart from a vet and a negative BVD test. Each animal is also subject to a visual inspection by a member of our team. We strive to keep the facilities as biosecure as possible for the safety of our herd and our clients’ animals.
Included in these costs are standard feed, hoof care, routine vet checks, Oxytocin, Ov-Sync Drug Administration, pregnancy testing, antibiotics, Mastitis treatment, routine classification, arm service, and some other day to day items at our discretion. Hauling is available but not included. Semen, surgery, flush costs, vet emergency services are the responsibility of the animal owner. In the future we hope to offer recipient solutions as well as a live calf program (inquiries welcome).
